Project Description

Urban Jungle created an indoor/outdoor garden room on the 5th floor of this South Philadelphia townhouse. In addition to being a hospitable space to relax outside, the client also wanted the ability to grow herbs and vegetables in their garden.

We started by installing structural wood tiles and adjustable pedestals to create a level surface across the deck. Next, we catered to their need for two planting zones— one for growing vegetables, and another to screen neighbors’ views— by fabricating two sets of trough-style planters for each use. For their herb and vegetable garden, our team fabricated oversized planters to emulate a garden plot.

To sustain the plants, we installed a drip irrigation system, which will ease the maintenance requirements of this unique roof garden.
